My name is Gabriel A. Tanglao and I am an educator, organizer and advocate. My story is a remix of the American Dream. Escaping a life of poverty in the Philippines, both of my parents migrated to the U.S. in search of opportunity. They met each other, fell in love and started a family in Bergen County. I earned my MA in Economics Education from the University of Delaware, MS in Teaching Social Studies and BA in Political Science from Pace University.
My passion for the classroom is matched only by my love for organizational leadership. As an active union member, I serve as Treasurer, Legislative Action Team Chair and Evaluation Committee Chair of the Bergenfield EA. At the county and state-level, I am active through the NJEA SPARKS Academy, NJEA Apprenticeship for Organizational Development, NJEA Minority Leadership Training Cadre, NJEA Delegate Assembly, NJEA Union School Program and NEA Representative Assembly.
In my free time, I enjoy food, music and practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
